Written as the result of the author's personal experience as a trauma and abuse survivor, Someone Hurt Me is designed to encourage abused children to work through their feelings of pain and confusion. With the help of a support person--a parent, grandparent, or other concerned caregiver--this picture book offers a way to reach inside the child and help him or her express the troubled emotions that are bottled within. Colorful illustrations that focus on a butterfly--a symbol of beauty and change through struggle--guide the child through the darkness and pain and into the light. Detailed instructions and suggestions assist the support person in reaching out to the traumatized child. Rounding out the book is a list of professional support services for abused children.
