Created by Dick Van Patten, beloved television
actor, this book is guaranteed to provide hours of pure enjoyment
for anyone who loves to be quizzed about TV. Dick has created a
trivia game in book form that provides nearly a thousand delightful
questions on topics ranging from sitcoms to soap operas, from medical
shows to made-for-TV movies, from science fiction to The Simpsons--and
that spans the decades from the fifties to today.
But there's more. Most other books of this
type irritatingly reveal the answers directly below the questions,
or group all of the answers together. This book is designed in a
way that allows the reader to see only one answer at the appropriate
time. That way, the reader can actually play along. There are also
fascinating insets throughout the book that relate wonderful television
anecdotes that Dick has gathered during his more than fifty years
in show business
While other trivia books may get their questions
and answers from previously published references, Dick Van Patten
has the unique distinction of drawing information from his long-time
involvement in the business that he has worked in for so many decades.
Let Dick take you on a tour of TV history--one question at a time.
Dick
Van Patten was born into a family of actors, and made his
acting debut at the age of seven when he appeared in the Broadway
production of Tapestry in Gray. Ultimately, he would also
perform in movies, on radio, and, of course, on television. Although
he first appeared on TV at the age of seventeen in the pioneering
sitcom I Remember Mama, today's audiences remember him best
as dad Tom Bradford of the hit TV show Eight Is Enough, which
ran from 1977 to 1981.
