Basing her work on the best-selling title
How To Teach Your Baby To Read, Janet Doman has written a
unique children's book designed to be read by preschoolers. The
author believes that very young readers have special needs, and
that these needs are usually not met by conventional children's
literature. Generally, these books are designed to be read by adults
to little children, and not by the children themselves. The selection
of vocabulary, sentence structure, print size, and formatting are
very important factors when words are being read by the very young.
The design of this distinctive children's book is based upon a half-century
of research into what works best for very young readers.
Enough, Inigo, Enough was created to
be read by young children who are being taught to read at home by
their parents. It was designed in recognition of the orderly way
in which a young child's brain grows and develops, and is intended
to be used and enjoyed as part of the reading program outlined in
How To Teach Your Baby To Read. In this book, parents will
find a story that fits the needs of children trained to read the
Doman way.
Janet
Doman is director of The Institutes and Glenn's daughter.
She grew up at The Institutes and was actively involved with helping
brain-injured children by the time she was nine years old. After
completing her studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Janet
devoted herself to teaching "the best parents in the world," helping
them to discover the vast potential of their babies and their own
potential as teachers.
