CORPORATE PROFILE

Founded in 2000 by former Avery Publishing Group president Rudy Shur, Square One Publishers, Inc. is a dynamic New York-based book publishing company designed to produce, market, and sell quality books to any number of specialized high-growth markets. Square One’s titles sell to the bookstore trade as well as to a wide variety of nontraditional outlets. Each title aims to be accessible, accurate, interesting, and smartly written with a strong point of view by author/experts who know their subjects well.

In addition to alternative health, Square One specializes in books on cooking, parenting, business/personal finance, self-help, history, and memoir among others. Square One has been named one of the top ten fastest-growing indie book publishers in North America by Publishers Weekly for six years in a row. In 2009, a major motion picture from Oscar-winning director Ang Lee was made from Square One's first memoir Taking Woodstock. Some of Square One's strongest-selling books include: The Acid Alkaline Food Guide; Talking With Your Hands, Listening With Your Eyes; Love Tactics; How Smart Is Your Baby?; Pea in a Pod (now in a full-color 2nd Edition); The Urban Treasure Hunter; Pat Cooper: How Dare You Say How Dare Me! (with Foreword by Jerry Lewis); How to Read a Person Like a Book; Suicide by Sugar; and What You Must Know About Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs & More among others.

Square One’s staff is comprised of talented and experienced publishing professionals. Our editorial personnel develop and edit manuscripts designed to meet the needs of specific audiences; our graphics and typesetting staff produce beautifully-packaged books primed for market attention; and our marketing and sales people provide effective distribution, aggressive promotion, and continuing sales.

A state-of-the-art integrated networking system provides each department with instant access to important information, and enables each staff member to communicate quickly with others--all with the goal of creating the best product possible.

Our ever-growing circle of authors includes individuals and organizations that are considered leaders in their respective fields. From art to business and from travel to cooking, our writers provide both the expertise and the credentials necessary to garner attention from today’s print and electronic media.
